Profile: City / Community

Situated at the entrance of the Bay Bridge, between Oakland and Berkeley, at the junction of I-80, I-80, and I-580, Emeryville is a bustling small urban city, home to Pixar Animation Studios and Jamba Juice. Served by Amtrak and the nearby MacArthur BART station in Oakland, as well as AC Transit bus service and the free Emery Go Round shuttle service, which connects the Bay Street shops to BART, the marina and other attractions. Emeryville looks out over the sparkling views of the San Francisco skyline and the gorgeous sunsets behind the Golden Gate Bridge.

Bay Street is an urban village full of retail, restaurants and entertainment for everyone. Take in a movie at the AMC 16-screen Megaplex, or the nearby UA Emery Bay 10 screen theater. The best in entertainment is always plentiful with Oakland, UC Berkeley and San Francisco so nearby. Emeryville also celebrates the arts through its Art in Public Places program. The Emeryville Chamber of Commerce also keeps an up-to-date entertainment calendar. Don’t miss the Farmers Market Thursdays from 12-6:30pm at Haven Street.

Emeryville Unified School District has only two schools, K-6 and 7-12, and is committed to providing to each student “a rigorous education in a welcoming safe school environment that supports student learning, tolerance, respect and engagement with people from different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs.” Repeatedly earning the largest improvement in test scores of any district in Alameda County, Emery has also developed intervention courses, after school and summer opportunities and a rich variety of visual and performing arts.
